A September Gathering in Sausalito

Master Mariners and Point San Pablo Yacht Club gathered in Sausalito for the September Cleat Cruise, with boats at Schoonmaker and friends joining by land as well as by sea. PSPYC’s fleet captains reported eight boats making the trip—a strong turnout for a weekend of food, music and time together along the waterfront.

Friday evening brought the group to Sausalito Cruising Club for dinner, drinks and music. On Saturday, September 26, the gathering moved to List Marine for the weekend’s barbecue. More than 50 Master Mariners and PSPYC members came together, filling the evening with conversation and plenty to share around the table.

A highlight was the passing of the Cleat Cruise trophy: Jim Cullen of Gold Star handed it to Louis Nickles of Vectis. Congratulations, Louis! The photographs capture the handoff and Louis with the familiar wooden trophy, carrying the Cleat Cruise tradition on to its next keeper.

The music continued the spirit of the gathering, with guitars, fiddle and harmonica among the instruments in the evening’s photographs. Whether arriving aboard a boat or coming over to join friends ashore, everyone had a part in making the weekend a good one.

Thank you to everyone who brought and shared the great food and beverages, and to Johnny McGinley and Andrew Egelston for their work at the grill. A special thank-you to List Marine for hosting, and to Sophie and Hans List for welcoming both clubs. Thanks also to everyone who helped organize the gathering and the photographers for sharing these memories.
